Urologic Specialists of New England are pleased
to offer the Prolieve® System as an option for men who are
experiencing urinary difficulties caused by enlarged prostate
(BPH). Prolieve
uses microwave energy to shrink the prostate and a balloon catheter
to widen the urinary passage -- these two therapies combine to
relieve the disturbing symptoms of BPH for many men. The FDA-approved
procedure is performed in the urologist's office and takes about
45 minutes.
If you are taking pills for enlarged prostate
but not getting as much relief as you had hoped for, Prolieve
may help you. An evaluation by one of our doctors will give you
the information to help decide whether to try it. Learn more
about Prolieve
therapy for BPH or

If you are not being treated but have one or more
of the following symptoms, you should know that you may have
an enlarged prostate:
Frequent need to go to the bathroom
Getting up two or more times during the night
to urinate
Difficulty emptying your bladder completely
Having the urge to urinate come on suddenly
Needing to strain or push to start urinating
Having a weak urine stream
These symptoms may also be caused by other conditions,
and only a medical examination can determine what your situation
actually is. BPH, or prostate enlargement, is very common: more
than half of men age 50 or older have it, and if you're over
80 you have an 80 percent chance of having it. Treatment options
include medications, Prolieve and surgery.
